These are a great way of improving your skills, and study various topics in diving in more depth. Within the PADI system, they represent the way to obtain specific skills and abilities as well as gain supervised experience and have a great time.

Boat Diver - £99.00
Most diving involves them, learn the various techniques about getting on and off boats and RIBs safely.

Digital Underwater Photographer – £120.00
An excellent introduction to using a digital camera to bring home some memories. Two dives taking pictures, then use of the editing software

Diver Propulsion Vehicle Driver – £249.00
DVP’s are great fun, learn how to use them in the pool first, then take them out diving

Drift Diver – £110.00
Techniques to turn current to our advantage, the lazy way to dive, but great fun.

Dry Suit Diver – £120.00
for those who have been qualified when they were on their holidays… We will teach you buoyancy control in a dry suit and you will be toasty warm in the North Sea.

Deep Diver – £199.00
Understand more about planning and executing deeper dives. This speciality extends recommended depth limits to 40m.

Multilevel (computer) Diver – £80.00
Most modern recreational divers use Dive Computer’s. Learn how to use Dive Computers and understand more about dive planning and dive theory.

Night Diver – £149.00
Diving in the dark, some of the best dives are done at night, fantastic.

Peak Performance Buoyancy – £99.00The most important skill you can master.

Another skill that leaves most people scratching their heads, this speciality will demystify bearings, reciprocals and kick cycles. you will never get lost again.

Learn techniques for exploring shipwrecks, and how to avoid common hazards

Enriched Air – £129.00
The air that we breath consists of 21% oxygen and about 76% Nitrogen. Enriched Air, sometimes called Nitrox, is air that has been enriched with oxygen so that it has more than the 21% oxygen.

As a qualified PADI Enriched Air Diver, you will learn to use enriched air with 22% to 40% oxygen in your tank. Diving with enriched air / nitrox lets you safely extend your no stop time beyond the no decompression limits for air, through the reduction of the nitrogen in the breathing mixture.

Diving with enriched air means more time underwater – Once qualified, you will receive a another PADI credit card sized ID. This will allow you to buy enriched Nitrox fills from any PADI recognised Nitrox dealer, literally anywhere in the world.

Course comprises of PADI enriched air crewpack, including EANx tables, Nitrox theory and 2 dives

Master Scuba Diver – £499.00
This is the highest Diving Qualification within the PADI system. It represents an excellent goal for any diver. It consists of Rescue Diver, 5 specialities as above and 50 logged dives. We offer packages for this ‘black belt’ of diving. Please ask us for details

Technical Recreational Courses
Technical diving is the extreme sport of scuba diving. Experienced divers go far deeper than in mainstream recreational diving. Technical diving requires more training and equipment and isn’t for everyone, but if you are up for the challenge and pushing your diving to the extreme, then this is for you.

PADI Tec Rec from £250 per course
The TecRec program debuted in 2000. Although TecRec is not the first tec diving program (cave diver training has been around for decades), it repeatedly receives accolades for its merits. Here at Durham City Scuba we provide the following courses:

Recreational Tri Mix | £329.00
This program is designed to provide recreational divers with a breathing medium for extending their dives to deeper sport diving depths without any narcosis.

Advanced Nitrox| £299.00
This program is designed to extend the divers knowledge with O2 mixes of up to 1.5 PO2 and teaches one stage cylinder decompression techniques. It further develops diving skills and provides a greater understanding of oxygen use as well as the Nitrox diving concept.
